About us
Quality & Hygiene
Van Gils Creaties pays special attention to quality and hygiene. To prepare our products, we only use fresh cream butter and natural high-quality ingredients such as chocolate, mash, etc
Recently, we also built a new factory hall so that we now meet all EC standards, which ensures the high quality of our production process and products and also vouches for the continuation of our export expansion. Next to these quality standards, we – obviously – also observe standards such as ISO and HACCP and we’ve been given the IFS certificate (International Food Standard) as well.
History
It all started in 1974 in the garage of milkman Staf van Gils and his wife Roosje when Staf, after having finished his milk round, started preparing ice cream according to traditional methods. Not so much later, he swapped the milk van for a freezer lorry. Soon, Staf and his Ijsklokje became a household word in the Belgian Kempen and the province of Antwerp. The delicious ice cream of IJsklokje is still prepared in Weelde, be it now mechanised, and is still as popular as ever in many households. The home service formula appeared such a success that ever more Ijsklokje lorries started to hit the road.
In the calm winter months, Staf went to Holland. In first instance, to befriended home service businesses. After a while (in 1985), he came into contact with the wholesale market and our famous Mousse Dessert was developed. Around the nineties of the previous century he developed the sugar-free ice cream and created a new brand: “Van Gils Creaties”. Since then, there is a much more transparent division between the Home Service business on the one hand (IJsklokje) and the Food Service business on the other (Van Gils Creaties).
Van Gils Creaties delivers to wholesale businesses from various industries, such as institutions, hotels, restaurants and caterers and supermarkets. We deliver our quality products both in Belgium and far beyond it. Among our foreign customers are wholesale and purchasing associations from Holland, France and Germany.
